Campus Security Technology

Effective campus safety management is imperative; creating a safe and comfortable environment for students to learn and grow is the school administration's top priority. On one hand, this requires government agencies to strengthen regulatory oversight and educational outreach; on the other, it necessitates the judicious deployment of security equipment throughout the campus. Currently, the security equipment and systems predominantly adopted by schools in China include: video surveillance systems, integrated access control and "all-in-one card" systems, multimedia teaching systems, intrusion alarm systems, public address (PA) systems, and electronic guard tour systems.

1. Serving as a security monitoring tool for campus safety, with surveillance points strategically positioned along main thoroughfares, critical areas, perimeter walls, and the entrances and exits of various buildings;
2. Facilitating exam supervision, instructional activities, and remote management. Among these applications, exam room surveillance has emerged as a major area of ​​focus and implementation in recent years.

These constitute another major security application within the campus environment. Common applications of this integrated system extend to academic administration, financial transactions, and various services—such as serving as faculty IDs, student IDs, library cards, medical cards, pool passes, dining cards, and phone cards. Concurrently, these cards function as credentials for campus entry and exit, thereby enabling the effective management and control of personnel within the school grounds.

These systems are primarily deployed in critical areas—such as perimeter walls, computer labs, finance offices, and chemistry laboratories. They represent one of the most practical and fundamental components of campus security infrastructure. In the event of an emergency or incident at the school, these systems enable faculty and staff to promptly establish contact with the outside world and summon assistance. To ensure maximum efficacy, the system must be networked with the automated alarm system of the local emergency dispatch center (e.g., the "110" command center). Should the school face a crisis, on-duty personnel can manually trigger the alarm.

These systems are primarily utilized for broadcasting background music, general announcements, and emergency fire safety alerts. Electronic Guard Tour Systems—currently available in both online and offline configurations—are predominantly employed to monitor and track the patrol routes undertaken by security personnel.
